Screen Printed Plastisol Inks Iron-On Transfers

Plastisol Ink Iron on transfers are a cost effective way of re-producing your designs. Your designs are Screen Printed using the Spot Colors Process on to Transfer Paper. We color match the inks to your design's colors at no extra charge (pantone color codes required) and with SpotPro® Transfers application is quick 4-6 seconds press time, Hot Peel. So, if you are pressing 100 garments, with SpotPro® Transfers you will get the job done alot faster.

    Various Plastisol Transfer Types

All the Plastisol Transfers are very easy to apply and work everytime. No need to cut around the image/design, only the design prints on the shirt. Below are various types of Plastisol Transfers for different finished look and feel. The garment you will be printing on also plays a part in choosing the best type of Plastisol Transfer that will work best on specific garments.

    SpotPro® & SuperStretch® Plastisol Transfers

    SpotPro® SuperStretch® Transfers Stretched Sample
    (c) Sick On Sin

These are our most popular Plastisol Transfers. They are a multi purpose type transfer. They print great on all fabric colors (black skirts etc.) and on stretch frabrics like rib knits or lycra/spandex blends etc... and also on a wide range of fabric types, like jersey, fleece, denim and more. These Transfers are screen printed with a special Adhesive, this adhesive allows them to stretch and makes them extra durable in the wash and wear. Another great feature about these Transfers is that they can be Pressed with a Home Hand Iron or Heat Press Machine. They are a Hot Peel but you also have the option of a semi-cold or cold peel for different finish look/feel.

    SuperGlitz® Transfers Sample
    (c) Lady Universe

    2-color-glitter-sample

    SuperGlitz® Plastisol Transfers

SuperGlitz® Plastisol Transfers are screen printed using Glitter Inks. They are unique and very, very sparkly and hard to reproduce with other materials. They have a look of their own and depending on the Ink Mix, they can even feel like vinyl and red colors can look like wet lipstick. Special adhesives and also be used to make them stretchy and extra durable when printing them on stretch fabrics.

You designs can have 1,2,3,4...colors, your art colors need to be seperate and the cost is about 3 times more than regular plastisol transfers.

    SpotHD® (High Detail) Plastisol Transfers

SpotHD® Plastisol Transfers are High Detail Transfers to print on ALL fabric colors. These too can be made for stretchy fabrics. Please view the samples below:

    (c) Pelecan Bar - Jamaica

Notice the above Red Stripe Logo has a very thin BLACK shadow outline, this sample transfer is less than 3" wide.

    1-spot-colors-sample

    SpotEZ® Regular Hot-PEEL Plastisol Transfers

SpotEZ® Regular Hot-PEEL Plastisol Transfers are your basic transfers. They are made to print on Jersey Knit fabrics with NO-STRETCH. They are NOT as durable as Plastisol Transfers made with special adhesives. We DO NOT recommend these transfers for Brands...they are ok for 1-time promo events where quality is not too important.

The Banana Transfer sample also has Glitter, this sample shows how you can have a design in solid colors (not glitter) and also have 1 or more colors in Glitter, in the entire design.

The " God Bless America " design sample is a 4 Spot color design, the Gold color also blends (fades out) to white. Color blends are possible with spot color process printing by assigning percentages to the color, to print on white shirts no base is required, to print on dark shirts a white base is required when printing light colors.

Spot color artwork needs to be in seperate colors. For high detail blends it is best to go the 4 Color Process Printing type.

4 Color Process Iron on Transfers

This transfer printing process is used when the artwork is a photo type design with a lot of colors and blends. The set up and preperation to run a 4 color process job involves a lot of art prep-work, for this reason we only run 4 color process transfers using the 25"x38" Jumbo Size transfer sheets with a minimum run of 1,000 sheets. Of course with a large run like this you transfer cost per design becomes very attractive.

Since a 25"x28" transfer sheet can yield about 20 full size chest designs, you will need about a 20 design collection to go this root.

If you Only have a few designs, contact us anyway since we do multiple-project runs where we combine designs from 2 or 3 different customers to fill up the 25"x38" transfer sheet. These Multiple-Project runs are not schedule, this means that you name goes on a list and we contact you when we merge Multiple-Project runs. On average once per 30-90 days.

    Lithograph Iron-On Transfers (litho-transfers)

Back in the seventies these were the most popular transfers. Below is a photo from an original collection of rock bands from the 70's. Notice they are in a MATTE finish. Soon after they were also made with GLITTER around the edges.

    About Litho-Transfers

Have you noticed most Lithograph Transfers lately have a glitter border aroung the edge ? the photo sample to your left of an Ozzy Decal made by Bang On is an example of such. By the way, this sample is not for sale here, it's only being use as a demo.

If you are planing on turning your own designs into this type of transfers to be applied on t-shirts etc. be prepaired to spend some dollars.

This is how it works !

This is a four-color process (Off-Set) type transfer ( this means you can use unlimited colors ) that provides high photo like detail. It is impossible for a screen printer to directly print on shirts with this litho-end result. But who knows, there are brilliant screen printers out there and sooner or later it will get done.

These Iron-on's print well on all fabric colors and are ideal for large production runs like magazine insert promotions, or like the 70's type transfers printed on shirts at the mall. You can apply them to shirts etc. with a home hand iron (w/6"x8" size designs or smaller) or heat press machine.

Manufacturers of this type of Iron-On Transfers in most cases are set up to run large size transfer sheets.

The economical way to manufacture these transfers is to run a collection of designs because the set up costs are high and a standard run will involve printing at least 1,000 sheets. So it only makes sense to use more than one design.

How much does it cost ?

First of all, it is best to do a samples run. This will pay for all the set up work involved and you get back samples of the finished product.
Sample runs range from $ 1,000.00 to $ 1,500.00 or more. Yes, it's not cheap and there are only a few manufacturers in North America that do this type of work.

Assuming you are happy with the samples and run 1,000 full sheets and each sheet contains 20 different designs, you get back litho-transfers that are cost effective.

Ordering Custom Plastisol Transfers Starting Point

The Best place to start for a Cost effective way to make Custom Plastisol Transfers is to do a Collection of Designs, like 5 or 6 Designs with the same quantiy for each design. This is just a basic tip...!

What is a Plastisol Transfer Sheet?

Transfer sheet is a special Release Paper, your designs are printed on it in mirror image using the traditional screen printing method with plastisol inks. You then use a Home Hand Iron or Heat Press Machine to Transfer the Designs from the Paper Transfer Sheet to Garments (t-shirts etc.). The Transfer Sheet with your designs has a long shelf life, it can be stored and used up as you need. This is one of the great benefits of using Heat Transfers, it allows you to Print 1 or small quantities on Demand.

Ganging (Grouping) Designs/Artwork on the Transfer Sheet

The photo to your left is a Sample Transfer Sheet with Gang Designs.
Notice that there are 5 Designs plus 2 small Logos on the Transfer Sheet. This is called a Designs Gang or Yield.

Gang/Yield means grouping Designs on the Transfer Sheet.

We Charge by the Transfer Sheet and NOT by Design.

We do NOT charge extra for you to Gang Designs on the Transfer Sheet. We charge by the Transfer SHEET and NOT per design... so the more designs you can Gang on a Sheet the less expensive each design becomes....Bonus!

We Charge by the Total Colors on the Transfer Sheet

Notice that NOT all the designs on the Transfer Sheet use the same colors:

    1. I LOVE ZOMBIES - White, Black, Red, GREEN.
    2. RED FOX - White, Black, Red, PINK.
    3. BRAIN - White, Black, GREEN, PINK.
    4. CROSS BONES - White, Black.
    5. BAT - White, Black, PINK.
    ...plus the 2 small logos.

So, in total, this Transfer Sheet is using 5 Colors (White, Black, Red, Green, Pink).

Tip: if you use WHITE in any of the transfer sheet designs, this is good. Why? because we can also use the WHITE Screen to Add the WHITE color as a Base behind any Light colors...like the PINK and GREEN in this example. The WHITE base will make the PINK and GREEN colors more vibrant when printing your designs on DARK color shirts.
