Spot98 T-Shirt Story.

There is always a story behind every custom shirt,
the spot98-net shirt story goes like this;

On Yonge street near Dundas by the Piccadilly Tube where local bands played, there was a guy who became obsessed with making custom t-shirts, so he opened a store and everyone came to print their favorite band decals, names and slogans with iron on letters on shirts. They all walk out of the store with a big smile showing off their feelings front and center on the shirt.

He was pushed to expand the business by Rudy Gunther, the inventor of the trucker wallet, yes the world famous wallet that attaches to your pants with a chain, that was the beginning of a Multi-Store retail chain and Factory, known as Royal Leather.

His retailing mentors Sam and Sid Sniderman, aka " Sam The Record Man ", who exposed him to the retail trade and the showbiz industry. Sam, who gave him a job in the early days and continues to be a long life friend and Sid who taught him the humble factor in great success.

In 90's, he received a nomination from the Bank Of Montreal for New Business Entrepreneur of the Year, he contributed to Eastman Kodak Imaging division in the development of Digital Laser Photo Iron on transfers that have bloomed into a new industry of their own.

During this time frame, he met Carl and Ann Beam, Carl called him "Freeman", they would spend time together around the Kodak Laser Copy machine and reproduce 100's of Laser transfers, Carl is Canada's first International artist. These two great people expanded his mind beyond art.

To give you an idea of what this guy is all about, before he started manufacturing his own iron on transfer designs, he contacted all the major manufacturers of iron-on's at the time and asked them if he could have all the defective transfers they made that would end up in the garbage (free of charge). Not all agreed but some did, they shipped him these " garbage bound iron on's " and he recycled them by creating collage design shirts along with cut up's from other garments.

All though he chooses to live an OFF spotlight life, this Guy has made 100's of shirts for celebrities, shirts have been featured in News/Magazines and TV shows, 30 years later, he is still obsessed with iron on's, enjoys his job and continues to make people happy with a team of co-workers that love this custom t-shirts thingee too.

Spot98-net also offers a free service network for artists/designers to expose their work, promotes kids and teens involved with artistic school projects, contributes to the Parkdale Film and Gallery Community. The 1267 Queen Street Retail Store is like a magnet for freestyle do it yourself creative outlet for all (open to the public 2-5 pm).

This is the story behind a Spot98 T-Shirt.

You Said It ! client feedback.

Two hours ago I had absolutely no experience with, nor any knowledge of iron-on transfers.
Since then, I've opened the package of iron-on letters that I'd ordered and received from you folks, read the directions, watched a very helpful video on your website, did some cutting and ironing, and proceeded to produce four flawlessly lettered T-shirts!

Thanks!

Hi,
My t-shirts were a smash! I went to a charity to support people with mental illness/depression - other at the Science and Industry in Chicago. 2 People really noticed the shirts and wanted to know what they represented ; ) Cool.

Just what I wanted to do. Spark their curiosity. I especially liked that you threw in my name in sparkles too! And it was good that you printed some stars in the iron-on material.

Thanks!

Nanette F.

"You are very prompt; I'm amazed at how quickly you got back to us. That is awesome service. The order form was very easy to use, as well. It was rather like playing a game instead of ordering!

You all have a nice day."

"Good Afternoon,
I just recieved my iron decals in the mail, and I couldn't be happier! I am getting married later this fall and have been looking everywhere for the right decals for a wedding day jacket, and when I came across your website it was exactly what I was looking for. I have looked for decals at every craft store, and these beat everything out by price and nothing compares to the way these look. You guys even threw in some hearts :) I just wanted to extend a big thanks for making my special day even more special! Thanks again!"
Sincerly,
Megan A.

"Here is the video of the marriage proposal made possible by your letters. The flags have your lettering. Thanks and enjoy."

Parkdale is a better place to be

By Robyn Doolittle
Staff Reporter
Toronto Star

"The Shop has always been known as the funky hot-pink T-shirt store on Queen St. West.

Since opening, The Shop has become one of the hippest destination shops in the city and a pillar in Parkdale's flourishing underground arts community.

"I (Heart) Conrad Black" and "Parkdale is for Lovers" are two of the boutique's most popular iron-on designs, although most of its clientele prefer custom-made shirts.

But while the store's interior screams funky-hip, its exterior had crossed the fine line between shabby chic and plain old rundown. Graffiti, weather and regular wear and tear had taken its toll.

Store manager Jamie Mays knew she had to do something. So when a local community group offered to spruce it up for next to nothing, she went all in....." full article.

I Heart Conrad Black Shirts in The News!

Globe and Mail Article: INTELLIGENCE Dressed in Black?
Feb. 3rd. 2007 by MOIRA DALY.

"It's not exactly "Free Winona," but hanging in the window of The Shop, a Parkdale custom-T-shirt emporium, is perhaps the first small sign that Conrad Black is making the transition from corporate pariah to urban folk hero. It's a simple white T-shirt with a message in basic black type: I Conrad Black." ...
